The Neighbourhood Plan

Our applications for Area and Forum designation were submitted to Lewisham Council, our lead borough, on 21 January 2019

The Sydenham Hill Ridge Neighbourhood Area stretches along Sydenham Hill Ridge and its steep upper slopes, on both Southwark and Lewisham sides, following the line of Sydenham Hill, from the junction of Sydenham Hill at the traffic lights with the South Circular, to the “doughnut” roundabout where Sydenham Hill meets Crystal Palace.

The Plan Area includes:
+ All three Sydenham Hill Estates (managed by Southwark, City of London and Lewisham), Southwark’s Countisbury House, and Lewisham’s Hillcrest and High Level Drive Estates);
+ Sydenham Hill Woods, Wells Park, Hillcrest Woods;
+ the circular and cul-de-sac roads feeding into Sydenham Hill; and
+ the upper slopes of Kirkdale, Wells Park Road, Longton Avenue, Westwood Hill, Fountain Drive, and College Road down to and including St Stephens Church and Sydenham Hill Station.

Unusually for a Neighbourhood Area, there is no high street, and only one shop (on The Hillcrest Estate). There is one pub (The Woodhouse).

Forum and Area Applications

The Two Councils jointly sought views and comments on the applications from residents, businesses, and the many volunteers within the proposed Sydenham Hill Ridge Neighbourhood Area and from other interested stakeholders.
